Day 9: The Day of No Sweat

Today was a travel day to Amman, Jordan, but we still go to sleep in! I was so excited for sleeping in and going to Jordan. Dad was super excited to go because he's never been. I was super excited because its under 60 degrees there.

Breakfast was relaxing and delicious with too many choices. The flight was about three hours and I got to watch Wreck it Ralph 2. Turns out it was actually pretty decent. Not as bad as the reviews, but not as good as I would have liked. Otherwise the plan ride was pretty decent.

The hotel was so funky yet classy. There are a lot of mirrors and weird shaped, big vases all over the place. Almost knocked over a few. Oops. We were roomed on the 21st floor. I know everyones thinking, "that's such a low floor," me too. Anyway, the room was super snazzy and petite. Just like me. It reminds me of the hotel rooms in Japan, with super fancy furniture and stuff but in a smaller room.

After we got settled in the room, we decided to go out to dinner with some other teams, who are also not competing. Dad was so happy and energetic today due to us stopping competing. In the taxi on the way there, since we had so many people, I sat in the very front in the middle, on the little pull out seat next to the driver, WITHOUT a seatbelt. Mom, you didn't hear this from me, just say god came to you in a dream and told you. Anyway, we ate at some restaurant that was very, very casual. We ordered a 1 1/2 grilled chickens and some rice. It was super good food and a relaxing dinner. I really liked talking with the other teams. We shared stories and stuff, but mostly they talked about middle aged people stuff. Which is a polite way of saying, as my dad says, "old people stuff."

Once we finished dinner and had some dessert, we went back to the funky hotel to get a good nights
rest. Super excited to explore more of Jordan tomorrow, in the cool weather.

  1. Can’t wait to hear more about your time in Jordan; are you going to swim in the Dead Sea? Emory - good thing you are posting photos here given that you seem to not be visible in any group photos on the Global Scavenger Hunt blog

  3. inside these brackets are what i knew about jordan [ ]. you know like when you meet aomeone for the first time, they smile broadly and genuinely, they have energy, are friendly, are positive. you love that person immediately. after 10 days in 173% humidity and 120 degrees temp, and you come to a desert country, and you walk in and it hits you in the face with 50 degrees fahrenheit and a high of 70... it feels like that country is that person. i love jordan.

there's lots of shawarma here. lots of houkas. really low buildings. turns out jordanians hate being in the air. there are only like 5-6 high rises in all of amman. we learned the rents on the apts/condos get cheaper for every floor above 6, and the top floor is the CHEAPEST one in the building.

  4. As a middle aged person, I love the writing of both Emory and Alan. The world through your eyes/words is a good one! PS use safety features whenever possible
